A Radio Update Related to Nepal

I'm  Safe here in Abhayapuri,Assam,India...!!!
The earthquake that struck Nepal also felt greatly here around 11.41AM Local Time(0611UTC) on April 25th & then two after shocks also felt by me around 12.19PM(0639UTC) on April 25th itself....later on April 26th around 12.42PM(0712UTC) also...

Radio Update...BBC Nepali
I heard perhaps special shortwave transmission of BBC Nepali due to the earthquake in Nepal on 11995 & 15510kHz(my monitored frequencies) from 0130UTC onwards on April 27th after BBC Hindi transmission in the morning (0100-0130UTC) .I montiored for a few minutes.

Radio Nepal on Medium Wave on Air:
And I heard on April 27th evening Radio Nepal on mediumwave from 1358UTC onwards on 684kHz(via Pokhara?) broadcasting earthquake related updates & announcements plus talks with admistrative officials of various districts about damage,deaths & search & rescue & relief operations etc etc.The reception was good to fair with occasional fading (slight interference sometime from Bangladesh Betar broadcasting on 693kHz from time to time)via my Philips DL334 portable receiver on battery.There was another frequency which the same transmission was on air i.e. on 648kHz(via Dhankuta ?) but the reception was poor.

Here is a few entries from pages of my Radio Notebook  which  I entered during 2014 which I like to share with my readers.

Its Now Official......::
Yes, as news circulated in DXING Circle about official  closer of shortwave transmission(rather closer of shortwave stations)  of some All India Radio(AIR) Regional Stations..like AIR-Guwahati A on 4940kHz(Morning & evening-night)) & 7280kHz(Day) .......Now-a-days...on announcement about their frequency of operation ..only medium wave frequency is mentioned..earlier for many months...there was mention of usual parallel shortwave frequency ...during their regular frequency announcement...as I heard during my several monitoring sessions of  AIR Guwahati A on 729kHz  ...And it was despite the fact..that for a very long time their parallel  shortwave frequency was off the air. It is to be noted for a long time  AIR-Guwahati A was on the air on on shortwave frequency...on 4940kHz(Morning & evening-night)) & 7280kHz(Day) in addition to  729kHz on medium wave.
And also there is  no mention of AIR Guwahati A on 4940/7280kHz in the official All India Radio Printed B14 Frequency Guide.
As reported in Wavescan(DX Program of Adventist World Radio) last month..perhaps on November 23rd edition(of 2014),AIR closed down their shortwave stations located in at Gorakhpur, Jammu, Mumbai & Ranchi along with Guwahati....Only Mumbai was active in recent time as reported in Wavescan.
So, Its Now Official After A Long Silence!!!

AIR-Kolkata A via Chinsurah  Still On Testing Mode!!!!
No Mention of All India Radio(AIR)-Kolkata A  on 1134kHz & on 594  via Chinsurah (1000kW) in official AIR Printed B14 Frequency Guide has been made.I think AIR Kolkata A plus others transmissions via Chinsurah on 1134 & 594kHz still on test mode as posted by Jose Jacob (VU2JOS) in his AIR MW Station Details Data Sheet in his website..That's why no mention of it on the official AIR Printed B14 Frequency Guide.I'm yet to check on 594kHz but on 1134kHz in the evening the reception quality is good usually & sometimes blasting i.e. the term used by DXERs to describe  excellent signal.

DW Radio Urdu No Longer via Shortwave:
Deutsche Welle Radio Urdu ended their shortwave transmission from the start of  B14 season.And finally the end came.I got clear indication of this  whenever I tuned into their Mailbag program on sundays in B13 & A14 season.Though not mentioned directly about it, but  the hosts stressed on new media platforms like social media plus internet, FM rebroadcast via partner stations etc etc..This clearly indicated about the end of its shortwave broadcast...very soon.

VOA-Bangla Only via Medium Wave on1575kHz ,its long standing frequency & related VOA News ::
Another sad news came when I heard on air on June 30th....that from July 1st Tuesday (2014) Voice Of America Bangla no longer be heard on shortwave & the program would be heard on 190m on medium wave.....!!!And the another shocking news came later on July Ist....VOA News Now ended their shortwave transmission for Asia also on June 30th(2014)....itself...!!!So Double Shock!!

Update On AIR-Aizawal etc

After the morning of  January 11,2015 , I'm yet to hear signal of All India Radio(AIR)-Aizawal  on 5050kHz ( morning & evening)   & during afternoon on 7295kHz.On January 11th, I did try to hear AIR-Aizawal during afternoon around 0730UTC on 7295kHz(its afternoon frequency) but nothing was heard.Perhaps the shortwave transmitter might have  briefly on air in the morning of Janaury 11th on 5050kHz for testing purpose.
Another update...
On January 12th, I heard weak signal of AIR-Kurseong on 4895kHz around 1556UTC relaying Discussion type program from Delhi.

All India Radio(AIR)-Aizawal on 5050kHz

Its my honour & pleasure to inform you all that  I heard All India Radio(AIR)-Aizawal  with good signal strength around 0159UTC onwards on  its usual morning frequency of 5050kHz on Janaury 11,2015.There was some promos with music,station identification announcement in Mizo by a lady,then news in Mizo presented by a lady etc etc.I heard the transmission upto approx. 0211UTC.There was slight noise.And this is after a long time that I heard AIR-Aizawal.

Morning 5050kHz 0028 to 0400UTC

AIR-Aizawal is also on Medium Wave on 540kHz.

All India Radio(AIR) Kohima is back on 4850kHz

On December 1,2014 from 0129UTC onwards I noted AIR-Kohima on 4850kHz with overall fair to good reception quality.This is after a long break I heard the signal of AIR-Kohima on shortwave.There was slight hum noise observed and also other noise was there.However, there was no signal observed during my several aircheck from around 0202 UTC onwards and however I noted AIR-Kohima  back on air with Relay of National Morning News from Delhi from around 0230UTC onwards.And from 0300UTC there was North East News Bulletin in English from AIR-Shillong North East Service.
This is coinciding with the beginning of Annual Hornbil Festival & the visit of Prime Minister of India to Nagaland State and to the Horbil Festival.There was also live coverage of Horbil Festival noted in Hindi & English alternatively as noted by me during my aircheck on AIR-Kohima on 4850kHz from 0458UTC onwards.

More On Bhutan Broadcasting Service(BBS) on 6035kHz

As posted earlier, BBS is back again on shortwave on 6035kHz and continuing broadcasting thoughtout the day now-a-days.Its morning transmission beginning time is not regular as sometimes I noted back on air as early as 0100UTC and sometimes half an hour or hour later.And on September 9th i.e.today I heard good signal of BBS on 6035kHz in local Bhutanese language from 0047UTC onwards.

And on September 6th, I heard loud & clear signal of BBS English Service with news in English,public service announcements,English Songs etc from 1103UTC onwards.
On September 7th, also I heard BBS English with excellent reception overall from 1040 to 1112UTC onwards(my monitoring period).There was English Songs(sometimes back to back),Health Promos,News in English,public service announcements etc etc was on air.

The audio files were recorded while I was listening BBS on my Philips DL334  portable Analog Receiver without any external antenna.

However in the evening & night,I'm yet to hear the signal of BBS on 6035kHz.

As per informed by Alokesh Gupta from New Delhi, BBS is using only one transmitter at a time and that's why there is no parallel frequency.

Bhutan Broadcasting Service(BBS) Is Back On Shortwave

On August 30,2014, after receiving information from Alokesh Gupta from New Delhi, here in my location in Abhayapuri in Western Assam( a few hundred miles away from Bhutan Border) about possible reactivation of Bhutan Broadcasting Service (BBS) on Shotwave , I found BBS is indeed  back on shortwave on 6035kHz around 0414UTC(the time of my first aircheck) onwards.That time Nepali Service was on air.The signal quality was satisfactory as I found both via my Grundig YB 80 Rx on battery just with the telescopic antenna of Rx fully extended and later monitored with my Philips Analog DL334 Portable Rx without any antenna.

And the  English Service of BBS was noted from 0800UTC onwards on that day.

And  per my latest monitoring,now-a-days, I can listen to BBS in the morning to afternoon with satisfactory signal & first in local Bhutanese langauge from around 0100UTC onwards (may be earlier also as I airchecked from 0100UTC onwards only),then Nepali(0400 to 0800UTC) & later in English from 0800UTC onwards on 6035kHz.
However I couldn't trace BBS  signal during late in the afternoon,evening & night. And on August 30th, around 0316UTC during my aircheck on 6035kHz, I heard signal of   another Radio Station on air.
As posted by Alokesh Gupta in DX Asia," the BBS txers (50 & 100 kW) are back on air....",   so there may be another frequency for 50kW Transmitter .. Or  theythey may be this Transmitter i.e.50kW for same frequency i.e.6035kHz for  late afternoon/evening/night....Not Sure..!!! And so far I  am not being able to find BBS signal on any other frequency other than 6035kHz during my several air check on 41/49/60mb.
