.".....Trust no Future, howe’er pleasant!
Let the dead Past bury its dead!
Act,— act in the living Present!
Heart within, and God o’erhead!
Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time;"
A Psalm of Life

Some Historic Amateur Radio Audio Recordings etc... The beginning & much more:
The First Amateur Radio Operator from my native state Assam whom I heard on air..was none other than SK VU2RCH from Nagaon...in fact he was the first Assamese amateur radio operator to be on air from 1983.After winning a Grundig Yacht Boy 400 as part of Deutsche Welle Radio( one of the major international radio broadcasters during that period) as a part of their monthly draw of lotteries of Radio in early 2000s, and the gates open for me to tune into SSB reception exclusively amateur radio conversations. And this Grundig YB 400 has a ssb tuning facility with no option of lsb or usb selection, but just has a ssb fine tuning knob. And my radio friend , Arun Ray then as VU3ORN now VU2HO, my radio friend from Delhi, gave me valuable tips on tuning plus some interesting infos about frequencies & amateur radio nets of India. And it was the small spark & gradually it has grown into massive fires of SSB monitoring by me.Though technically I am than far far away & still miles & miles to go but I have begun at least from negative to zero & then zero to...And still it is going on...as learning is continuous process. And I also got in touch with Amateur Radio Society Of Assam in 2016 & became a member for a few years.I also passed the ASOC Exam organised by the society in restricted grade in 2019 & became amateur radio operator with callsign VU3WTI.I got the habit of recordings of radio audio from my three radio friends viz now VU3BSE then OM Alokesh Gupta of New Delhi, VURVY then SWL/BCDXER OM Swopan Chakrovorty of Kolkata & then VU3ORN now VU2HO OM Arun Ray of Delhi, and now I have huge collections of radio audios both from broadcasting & amateur radio transmissions. It has almost become a ritual to record radio audio while I am listening to radio...
But initially I could not able to listen any station of Assam though I heard many stations of West Bengal, Bihar ,Odisha & Bangladesh etc on 40mb and had to wait for a long time.In 2011, I once heard very faint signal of VU2RCH on 40mb in the morning.I could copy his callsign. But the first clear signal came in January 2012.I could record a few moments of the audio ...on 7145kHz lsb....On January 18th around 0731ist onwards..along with VU3SUY from West Bengal & VU2DPI (now Silent Key) from Sambalpur, Odisha.

Then again on October in 2012 I could listen to him on 7145kHz lsb perhaps on October 24th ...around 0710ist on 7145kHz lsb as far as I could recall. The audio was sharp due to some problem in ssb fine tuning knob which was not working at all.

Later I had to swtch to my another Grundig model which also won as prize from Deutsche Welle... Yacht Boy 80 receiver ...less in quality parameters..to listen to ssb transmissions..
But ...
WITNESS To Amateur Radio History In Assam is continuing..
On January 6th 2016...on 7145kHz lsb
After a gap several decades in 2016, finally three persons ,who are members of Amateur Radio Society(ARSA),Guwahati got the Amateur Radio License ..And I got this news on air while monitoring on 7145kHz lsb on my Grundig YB 400 receiver with a long wire ..in the morning of ..yes, its SK VU2RCH who disclosed this information on air. Then as per monitoring was the only amateur radio operator I could hear on air & he was disclosing this breaking news to VU3SAQ OM Dr.Sagar Sanyal one of the senior most ham of Kolkata.
Please listen to the audio clip..recorded on 7145kHz lsb in the morning of January 6, 2016..the audio link...
Yes,, they were VU3ZRI OM Ritu Mahanta, VU3YPB OM Paresh Brahma now VU2YPB and VU3YPK OM Pranab Kumar Choudhury now VU2YPK.And all hails from Guwahati.Yes, on facebook ,perhaps OM Sandeep Baruah ,VU2MUE posted the informations in detail with callsign as far as I could recall.
After a few months OM Bhagaban Barman also from Guwahati & secretary Of Amateur Radio Society of Assam also got his callsign as VU3XBP. And now he is also upgraded his license to general grade as VU2XBP.Perhaps OM VU2XBP is the only Assamese person to get a Short Wave Listener License(SWL) holder prior to his restricted grade license in 2016.Prior to 2010 perhaps there are four types of Amateur Radio Licenses for amateur radio operators(hams) in India viz.Advanced , Grade I, Grade II and Restricted and there is also a license for shortwave listeners who can monitor amateur shortwave bands without appearing for any written examination.
Later VU2TUO, OM Taheruddin Ahmed Of Guwahati got his license. And again OM Satyajit Das from Gandhibasti locality of Guwahati, now resides in USA & also got his license after a long gap of a few years to three decades perhaps. And his callsign is VU2OFX..He has also amateur radio callsign there from USA and it is KK4CCA.He might have created two history as far as amateur radio in Assam
1.Perhaps so far the longest wait of for a callsign in Assam
2..And the first Assamese ham to obtain US amateur radio callsign.
I heard him on air operating from the shack of then VU3YPB in Chandmari and later from his home in Gandhibasti locality in Guwahati.I have also recorded but the signal strength was weak and recorded audio quality was poor.I will try to post in my blog in future.
On November 18th of 2018 on 7145kHz lsb, I ,last lime heard VU2RCH on air before his passing away a few days later.I by chance recorded the audio & VU2NIL from Kharagpur, VU2AOR from Odisha & then VU3XBP(now VU2XBP) from Guwahati was on air that time.

Memories fade away with time plus with wear & tear of daily life, I may have committed some errors here and there.Hope , all will be taken in the amateur spirit. It is the same amateur spirit without any pecuniary interest, I have decided to write down what I have in my mind and what I could remember ......
More of amareur radio in Assam by listening & in recorded audios in the part II which is coming soon.
