Radio Romania International(RRI) English To India In B25 In Analog Mood..A Report
In this B25 season , RRI English besides its DRM transmission to India during 0400-0456utc on 15250kHz, also has an alernative frequency on usual AM analog transmission mode (A3E) on 17790kHz.As per their website it has been mentioned due to frequent malfunction of Radiocom transmitters, Radiocom switches RRI programs to a backup transmitter operating on alernative frequencies. Anyway, I have monitored these alternative analong AM transmission on 17790kHz during 0400-0456utc from time to time.The reception has been not satisfactory at all.There has been heavy to moderate interference QRM from adjacent broadcasting station on 17785kHz.On rare occasions you can listen with clear signal e.g. on March 23rd .....Flok Music program heard around 0452utc..

Sometimes nothing of RRI-English can be heard on 17790kHz during 0400-0456utc. I am not sure whether only when their DRM transmitter malfunction they shift to this alternative analog frequency.
The almost same is the case with the another alternative analog transmission during 0630-0656utc on 17780kHz of RRI English. There has been strong co-channel interference of a radio station and that prevents to copy the signal of RRI-English.And it has become totally useless frequency for me here in my place.

The RIG used for all these monitorings was Yaesu FT891 and external antenna used was Inverted V dipole Centre feed.And the place of reception was Abhayapuri in Western Assam.
Meanwhile I have stopped sending correspondence with radio stations including RRI English for a decade now after starting correspondence with different stations from April 7,1997.But Their QSL Cards sent to me plus other materials including envelopes still in my possession.RRI English has sent me many QSL cards (printed) over the years.Here is a scanned version of one of such card both sides.(front first & then back side).The Card depicted a luggage carriage of The Moldovita Train.That Year I guessed RRI featured Romanian Railways as the theme of their QSL Cards.
