BCDXING from One Of The Land of Coconuts, Backwaters & Perhaps Rambootan Too:
Noted BCDXER/amateur radio operator, OM VU2JOS, Jose Jacob , now on a visit to his native place in Keralam state ( at Attari,a few km away from Kochi International airport) and he sets up a portable amateur radio station with all possible antennas whenever he visits there for long duration.This time also he has done it. He has monitored some BCDX stations and shared a few intererestng loggings as before. The RIG used Yaesu FT 757 GX & external antenna used inverted V for 7, 10, 14 MHz multi band.
On May 28th..
He heard WRMI English Relaying Radio Slovakia International English program via WRMI, Okeechobee9 (100kW) from 0030utc on 15770kHz with good reception.Here is the recorded audio link at 0030utc....
On May 29th..
He heard Overcome Ministry on 9425kHz from 2345utc for sometime with good reception.Here is the recorded audio link of Overcome Ministry he did around 2349utc..
He was not sure about the transmitter site & its power.
On June 2nd..
He heard Radio Havana Cuba English on 11760kHz with poor reception but the transmission suddenly went off the air at 0048utc.
On June 6th..
He heard WTWW, USA on 9930kHz Lebanon TN,USA-100kW) from around 0100 to 0130utc( signing off in English) with poor reception.
On June 9th..
He observed WRMI transmitter on 15770kHz (Okeechobee9) back on air after two days absence and fair signal noted around 2340utc onwards.
Also he noted WMLK(USA) English ( Bethel, PA, USA-100kW) around 0004utc with poor reception.
I like to express my thankfulness to OM VU2JOS for sharing the loggings etc and hope we will get more extotic logs during his visits to his native state.
The Story of Rambootan:
Rambootan is an exoic,sweet tropical fruit mainly grown in South Indian states of Keralam, Karnataka & Tamil Nadu.In Keralam it has become one of lucrative and widely grown exotic fruits.And frankly speaking, I have no idea about this fruit and I cannot remember seeing it or read it anywhere. OM VU2JOS sent me a few phoographs of this fruit and the tree from his locality. And only then I have come to know about this Rambootan fruit. Thanks OM VU2JOS for sharing the photographs of Rambootan and introducing to this tropical fruit.
