Akashvani Kokrajhar Back On Air Again Loud & Clear on 102MHz:
On May 7th, around 0327utc onwards, I heard strong signal of Akashvani Kokrajhar on 102MHz.I guessed it might have sorted out its antenna system again and gave maximum power (10kW).That's why it is again now being heard regularly loud and clear here in Abhayapuri nearly 50-55km aerial distance and well within its coverage radius of 70km.It is to be noted that Akashvani Kokrajhar's reception was very week from March as far as information received due to problem in the antenna of their 10kW newly installed FM transmitter(in January).
The programs I heard on May 7th from 0327utc onwards modern Bodo song , then news in Assamese to be relayed from Akashvani Guwahati from 0330utc as announced but instead special English news bulletin from Akashvani Delhi on Operation Sindor was aired.
Here is the recorded audio file link and it was recorded around 00329utc:
Here is a few more recordings of Akashvani Kokrajhar on 102MHz here at my location.
On May 18th at 0329utc
On May 22nd ..at 0344utc..
May 24th 0329utc..
& around 0344utc:
On the morrning of May10th, my Senior Radio Friend from Scotland Of The East i.e. Shillong, VU3NYV, Prof. Hajong Sir informed me that he also heard Akashvani Kokrajhar on 102MHz with his Tecsun PL310ET with only the built in telescopic antenna. He sent me a video of his reception & with my brother Rupam's help in Guwahati, I converted into MP3 file. Here is the link to the audio recordings of Akashvani Kokrajhar on 102MHz around 0314utc in Shillong.
Here is the audio link:
It is to be noted the approx. aerial distance of Shillong from Kokrajhar may be around 202km approx. Prof. Hajong also informed me in May he was also getting good reception of FM Station of Thailand too.
And speaking about Shillong..here is another log..
Radio Mirchi Shillong on 91.10MHz at Abhayapuri...Nowadays
Severals days now, Radio Mirchi Shillong on 91.10MHz is once again audible now with good reception sometimes morning to evening as my random monitoring.Though sometimes it becomes noisy still I can copy its signal.
Here is the one of my latest recordings around 0354utc on May 22nd.
Bhutan Broadcasting Service on 96MHz Loud & Clear:
Bhutan Broadcasting Service(BBS) is well heard here nowadays on 96.00MHz.Its Nepali Service starts from 0400utc to perhaps 0800utc & then English Service is on air perhps 0800 to well beyond 1100utc.On the night too, I have heard another Nepali Service transmision on 96.00MHz.During other time, local language transmissions are being heard. What is interesting , they still announce their shortwave transmission frequency i.e.6035kHz during their announcements of frequencies of operation along with FM frequencies on air.BBS has not been heard on 6035kHz for a long time.
Several years back parallel to shortwave on 6035kHz, BBS was well heard on 90MHz but now on this frequency , nothing heard.
Here is a few audio recodings of BBS Bhutan Nepali Service from 0400utc onwards signing on etc on May 15th on 96MHz.
May 15th 0400utc & the recorded audio link :
and for 0401utc, it is as follows:
Akashvani Goalpara on 102.6MHz:
Akashvani Goalpara on 102.6MHz is now audible loud and clear with excellent audio quality just like a local FM radio station in a town.It is to be noted Goalpara is aerially about 19km approx from Abhayapuri.Though Akashvani Goalpara mostly relays programs of Akashvani Guwahati Mahabahu , I heard about 30 minutes or so weekly program slot of Akashvani Goalpara but I am yet unable to find its schedule.Lets try try again.
Here is the link to the audio recording of Akashvani Goalpara relaying Akashvani Guwahati Mahabahu on May 24th around 0350utc ...
Its may be surprising for some how can broadcasting FM Stations can be heard well beyond its coverage areas. Its all due to the Sporadic E Layer.
More about it And how it influence the VHF propagation , try these links or search the net..
More observations//monitoring reports etc etc soon.
