And now An Obituary Reference
VU2PTF From Tinsukia is now A Silent Key:
With a heavy heart and immense saddness, I like to inform you all , VU2PTF(Rudra Prasad Sarma) , one of senior most as wellas one of the  pioneer amateur radio operator in Assam and in the North East India passed away on the night of August 28th  at a hospital in Mumbai while undergoing treatment. He was 75(1950-2026).He retired as a Deputy Manager in State Bank Of India(SBI) in 2012 and settled in his home town Tinsukia later. He got his amateur radio license in late 1980s . I heard him on air as a Shortwave Listener(SWL) on 40mb from 2017 for two years or so when he was operating from Tinsukia. And I used to give him reception updates of your signal via social media & other platforms as SWL. During my interaction with him , I came to know him as a keen homebrewer of radio-electrical & electronics  related things and also a guitarist. During his college days and before joining SBI,  I understand he was a much sought after guitarist in Tinsukia, his home town . After joining SBI,  he did not get much time for music performance as guitarist. And he also had to move to different locations every three or four years. But  still he used to devote his time in homebrewing electrical & electronics projects after returning from the job in the evening. He used to build sound boxes etc or others things too. One of his senior bank  colleague during his posting  at Nahakatia  suggested him to go for  amateur radio hobby(perhaps in late 1970s or early 1980s) . Somewhere he got address of Kerala Amateur Radio League,Kerala  and got information in detail about the process of amateur Radio in India. He also got study materials from the organisation as far as I could remember telling me.And that's was the beginng of his amateur radio journey.
Later from his social media posts of him , I came to know about his skills in carpentary and as a sketch artist. We used to have interact via mobile phone from time to time  and many things I came to know about his journey with amateur radio.
He was one of the founding members of Amateur Radio Society of Assam(ARSA) and also worked in different capacities in the society including at the time of his death as its Advisor.
His death of widely mourned by Amateur Radio Society of Assam(ARSA) members. ARSA held a condolence meeting  to mourn the death of VU2PTF on August 30th in Guwahati.
And I had atleast three eyeball QSOs with him during Annual General Meeting(AGM) of ARSA in Guwahati. His death is a personal loss for me. After I  becoming a ham sometime back, he used to encourage me to come to the band on HF with his usual witty style. Those words still fresh in my mind.  Surely, I will try my best to ink my empty pages of my  station log book with entries of my contacts.

The following lines of Gulzar's song often comes into my mind when I listen to numerous audio clips of his QSOs on air on 40mb recorded by me now....
"Naam gum jaayegaa
Chehara ye badal jayegaa
Meri aavaaz hi pahachaan hai
Gar yaad rahe.."
Here is a video clip of SK VU2PTF's  QSO on 7145kHz lsb  from wayback  on December 19th of 2017 around 0654ist with VU2RAK of New Delhi. This is in the memory of SK VU2PTF.

Rest In Peace OM VU2PTF! Rest In Peace!
