From Romania With A3E Class of Emission In English

 Radio Romania International(RRI)(in English) is one of the rare international radio broadcasting station which is still broadcasting to worldwide in traditional analog shortwave format with almost same intensity  as it was before.And it is despite the fact that major broadcasting outlets like British Broadcasting Corporation(BBC),Voice Of America(VOA) etc has drastically cut its shortwave broadcasting hours as well as with its coverage areas.And many have also stopped broadcasting on shortwave etc and even a few of them have already closed down.

RRI-English is audible here in my place during its present target area of broadcasting slot i.e.0400 to 0456utc(on 11790kHz) & 0630 to 0456utc(17780 & 15450kHz).The reception quality varies from day to day and usually the reception is more reliable during the 0630-0656utc now-a-days on both of the frequencies of broadcast i.e.17780kHz and 15450kHz.

RRI English to North America (East Coast) But Audible Here In My Place In India:
Sometimes transmission directed to other target area is well heard in non-target areas.Take this case......RRI-English transmission to North America (East Coast) during 0100-0156utc on 41mb is well heard here in my location during winter season.And this season the frequency is 7325kHz (Galbeni-Romania,300kW) as it the case for a several winter season of broadcast. Even the reception of one hour transmission directed to India of RRI-English is poor to not audible as per my monitoring for many seasons,but this transmission on this frequency is audible here with reliable reception.And even in summer season, when the transmission begins one hour earlier i.e. from 0000utc (upto 0056utc) and for several seasons the frequency is 7375kHz, this transission of RRI-English is audible with good reception overall most of the time.

Radio Romanian International English is also a good verifier of listeners reception reports with QSL Cards.And brings out every year a series of 12 QSL Cards on different themes featuring every aspects of life of Romania.I have received several QSL Cards from RRI so far.And here is of one of the earliest QSL Card perhaps the first QSL Card from RRI....(not sure)..

A Special Radio Monitoring Report

Here is a few special radio monitoring observations during initial two weeks of B20 season of international radio broadcast season effective from October 25th of 2020.

Radio Philipinas Worldwide English:
Noted BCDXER & Amateur Radio operator, Mr.Abhijit Mondal(VU2OWB) from Khaspur,West Bengal observed  resumption of normal broadcast of Radio Philipinas Worldwide English upto 0330utc recently in this B20 season.Thanks to my friend VU2OWB for sharing this information and bringing to my notice.Due to outbreak of Covid 19 ,the transmission hour was reduced this summer.

Now as per the announcement on air,Radio Philipinas Worldwide English can be heard on  15640kHz,17800kHz and 17820kHz during 0200 to 0330utc.But as per my air check, the transmission is audible on 15640 & 17820kHz in my location.

Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation(SLBC) External Service Hindi:
SLBC Ext Serv. Hindi was off the air on 11905kHz in the first week of November perhaps from November 5th.And as per news posted in a DX Group it was off the air  because of corona virus  infection of its staff.

But on sunday last i.e. November 8th , I heard SLBC Hindi back on air with good signal on its usual frequency 11905kHz from 0034utc to 0059utc.And towards the end around 0058utc ,lady presenter announced about the end of today's transmission & word of caution with the inccrease threat of corona virus.It is now clear to me why I not being able to hear the 2nd half of transmission i.e. from 0200 to 0230utc on 11905kHz for sometime now.Actually SLBC Hindi now is now on air only during 0030 to 0059utc on 11905kHz.
It is be noted during this 0030-0059utc  transmission includes around 12-15 minutes of Gospel Program in Bengali.This is still continuing.
Its a unique arrangement.

Radio Taiwan International (RTI) English on 6185kHz:
RTI English has changed its 1600-1700utc frequency of 9405kHz to 6185kHz from November 1.The reception has been good here in my area so far as per my monitoring.

Voice Of Mongolia(VOM) English:
Voice Of Mongolia English is facing moderate to heavy interference from a broadcasting station as usual during its 0900 to 0930utc transmission on 12085kHz.It is in the form of side band splatter from 12080kHz.It is very difficult to copy VOM English transmission on 12085kHz.It is happening for a long time.I wrote many times earlier about it and request for a change of frequency above 12085kHz.But till today no action has been taken.It may be it is happening in our area also and in other areas of the target region its broadcast is reaching without any problem.
