All India Radio(AIR) Kolkata Sanchayita Back On 1008kHz in AM Mode:

On November 14th right from the morning, on 1008kHz  I heard All India Radio (AIR) Kolkata with weak signal,music was on air.Heard station Identification annoucement by a lady in Hindi around 0209utc..All India Radio Kolkata.....etc The signal strength was fair to weak with QSB(fading) there.From 0230utc News relayed from AIR Delhi aired.It was posted earlier in facebook DX India group that AIR Kolkata Sanchayita   ( ex AIR Kolkata B) will be back on Am mode too on 1008kHz from November 14th.Thanks for VU2JOS of DX India for passting the info.

On November 15th, right from 0119utc onwards upto 0140utc, I monitored the station ,the signal strength(QSA) was strong  and later after 0140utc , the signal strength became weaker and slightly noisy etc.

Brief summary of programs heard

Shayama Devotional songs by a lady on air,annoucements in Bengali by  a male voice,music-station idd i.e.AIR Kolkata Sanchayita  by male voice,News in Sanskrit,,news in English,Hindi then once again station idd i.e.AIR Kolkata Sanchayita by a lady (0140utc) ,Yugabani Program on air

And just for information, AIR Kolkata's other two stations heard here AIR Kolkata Geetanjali on 657kHz with good reception overall in the morning for a few hours and later in the evening /night hours and Radio Maitree (to Bangladesh) on 594kHz audible here with variable reception but co-channel interference often observed during morning hours and evening/night hours as well.AIR Siliguri is another West Bengal based AIR station can be heard here on 711kHz.

From Scotland Of East With A3E signal ....

Today(February 18th) while scanning the medium wave band around 0532utc (1102 ist) I found surprisingly good signal of All India Radio(AIR) Shillong on 864kHz and Western Music was on air.It was back to back Western Music  with announcement by lady about songs on air etc once or twice .The program ended around 0700utc with Eagles's number" Love Will Keep Us Alive" and it was followed by another program in Hindi called Umang perhaps relayed from AIR Delhi.

It was pleasant experience to listen to AIR Shillong on 864kHz(100kW) during late morning no noise at all on this particular frequency during 0532 to 0601utc onwards.

The signal strength was good no fading as such,noise level was minimum. Shillong is nearly 148.37km away aerially from my place and it is called also called the Scotland of the East. I have used my Grundig Yacht Boy 400 receiver with 75 Feet Length  33 ft Feet Height

AIR Monitoring Report From Abhayapuri

Here is a few monitoring observations plus loggings on Regional All India Radio(AIR) Stations on shortwave which I like to share with radio hobbyists/DXERS around the world.

Some Latest Monitoring News:

1.AlI India Radio(AIR) Gangtok on 4835kHz is now frequently heard with severe hum noise.. including this morning(i.e.December 13,2018)..as observed by me from 0240 to 0332utc..4835kHz.

 And AIR-Gangtok was not heard during their day transmission on 6085kHz(latest on today..i.e.December 13,2018).. as per my aircheck in the afternoon also.

2.AIR North Eastern Service(NES) via Shillong..is not also heard here(including today). for several days .on 4970kHz..& 7315kHz.(perhaps off the air) .as per my monitoring.

3.AIR Aizawl & Kurseong Still Of The Air On Shortwave:
And still no trace of signal of AIR-Aizawl on 5050kHz & 7295kHz. And also AIR-Kurseong is still of the air on both 4895kHz & 7230kHz

A Few Radio Loggings On HF Band For June 19th....

Here is a few radio loggings which I like to share with you all.

1.Station KNLS English Via Madagascar World Voice(MWV) 9600kHz 0200-0256utc:
I did random aircheck of the reception quality of the station several times.And the reception improved as the transmission went on that day and the signal was good in strength with slight to occasional moderate fading.There was however co-channel station QRM on the background with not so strong signal & distorted audio could be heard.And also with weak heterodyne type noise sometimes audible.And audio of KNLS English was also very slightly distorted.

2.All India Radio(AIR) North East Update :
AIR Shillong was noted with good signal but with slightly rough audio on 4970kHz during several airchecks in the morning.And AIR Gangtok was not heard on 4835kHz today morning.As I mentioned in one of my earlier posts, AIR-Gangtok on 4835kHz is sometimes observed with strong hum type noise and the audio is not audible for several months now.Then it goes off the air for a day or so and again return with good audio no hum etc.And then after a few days again same problem comes.Perhaps it is due to some transmitter fault.
No trace of signal of AIR-Kurseong on 4895kHz &  AIR-Aizawl on 5050kHz.

3.Radio Romania International(RRI) English:
After a long break of several seasons, this was the first time I heard RRI English with good signal on 25m directed to India during 0300-0356utc(A season  broadcast time skd for India).There was very poor reception (often barely audible) during one hour morning transmission directed to India in my location both for summer (0300-0356utc) & winter (0400-0456utc) of RRI-English.And On June 19th I found surprisingly far far better reception of RRI-English on 11825kHz via Galbeni(300kW) right from 0300utc signing on.Thought slight noise plus side band splatter from a radio station broadcasting on 11835kHz could be observed from time to time.

4.Station KNLS English via MWV 15515kHz 0300-0356utc:
KNLS English via MWV was noted with good signal with slight occasional slight to moderate fading on 15515kHz.There was on QRM observed.
