Monitor's A23 Observation Special

On April 2nd, instead of regular All India Radio External Service Nepali transmission on 15410kHz via SPT Bengaluru(500kW), I heard from 0230-0259utc Morning News in Hindi & English (0245utc onwards).Earlier too around 0143utc onwards for sometime,Bangla program was on air for a few minutes instead of inverval signal of AIR and the regular AIR Nepali programs(External Service) from 0145utc onwards.There was no audio later but the carrier was on.There might be some technical errors.I just ended monitoring the frequency just at the end of News Headline at English.

The monitored scheduled of AIR External Service Nepali effective March 26th to October 28th of 2023..

0145-0315utc 15410kHz 

0900-1030utc 9910kHz 11560kHz 15030kHz

and on April 2nd, I could hear the transmission during the afternoon only on one frequency i.e. on 15030kHz(via SPT Bengaluru,500kW) with strong signal strength.

On April 3rd...

But the real fact  regarding the broadcast of has come out before me on April 3rd..around 0229utc..I was monitoring AIR External Service's Nepali transmission, it was on air as I monitored it around 0209utc approx. onwards from time to time.Suddenly, around 0229utc ,I heard the annoucement in Nepali, the news would be followed from Delhi and the morning news in Hindi & English came on air and after that regular Nepali programs followed upto scheduled upto 0345utc.Though after 0300utc onwards gradually co-channel interference observed though slight.

As reported in media that AIR centre in  Kurseong from this April will be producing All Nepali programs iincluding  AIR External Service Nepali Programs in place of New Delhi.

Another important item..Back On Air..Myanmar Radio on 9730kHz..

On April 3rd ,I heard On 9730kHz in the morning in local Burmese language after a break of a few weeks.

As I mentioned in my earlier report that I heard a station with weak signal on 9730kHz in place of Myanmar Radio during 0230utc onwards for sometime, it was none other than Voice Of Islamic Republic Of Iran (Radio Tehran) Pasthu Service (0220-0320utc perhaps).And this station causing QRM on Myanmar Radio transmission & let listen to the another recorded clip on 9730kHz around 0301utc..to get idea of the QRM.

Myanmar Radio Is Back On Shortwave on 9730kHz

 Today morning during my routine aircheck around 0217utc onwards I found Mynamar Radio back on air in local language airing local modern songs with short talk by a lady presenter with good signal strength.I think perhaps this is the first time  Myanmar Radio back on air on 9730kHz after the miliary take over of the administration of  Myanmar.The English transmission has begun as per earlier skd at 0230utc onwards with opening annoucement etc and news etc.But all are under a different administration.

Myanmar Radio on 9730kHz Off The Air The Story Of The Morning

 Today, around 0300utc I checked  as I do regularly in the morning ,reception quality Myanmar Radio English on 9730kHz(0230-0330utc usual time slot) and found no signal there of that station.I did not find it anything unsual as it happened earlier also.But I received a message from my friend ,a well known BC DXER, he also observed the station off the air and mentioned  further that it might be due to military coup in Myanmar.And I checked on the net and read several stories via BBC website on the news about this monday morning  military coup in Myanmar.

A Few Radio Loggings Plus General Observations On July 6 2018

Here is a few  radio loggings I've done today along  with  a few general  monitoring observations.

BBC Hindi was heard on 9510kHz & 11995kHz during 0115 to 0121utc (approx.) the reception was better on 11995kHz.

Radio Japan Hindi was very weak on 9820kHz as observed around 0115utc.

SLBC Hindi 11905kHz 0209 to 0229utc (several airchecks) Good Signal now-a-days Hindi Film songs on air.

Radio Philipinas English is  heard with variable signal on all three frequencies i.e.17820,15640 & 12010kHz now-a-days right from 0200utc

Station KNLS English Via Madagascar World Voice(MWV) 9600kHz 0200-0256utc is audible here with variable reception quality.Sometimes its reception suffers from co-channel QRM & its audio slighly becomes distorted.

Myanmar Radio is now-a-days received with good signal on 9730kHz from early morning hours.And their English Language transmission starts from 0230utc.

Radio Romania International(RRI) English 11825kHz 0342 to  0356utc Good Signal slight occasional noise Cultural features plus a feature towards the end  on USA-Romania Relations,end of the transmission announcements by a male voice,music & station Idd announcements

Radio Taiwan International(RTI)-English 15320kHz 0357-0359utc Fair signal moderate fading was there slight QRM as a form sideband splatter from Japanese station broadcasting on 15325kHz.

Voice Of Mongolia English on 12085kHz during 0900-0930utc is facing heavy interference (QRM) as a form of sideband splatter from a station broadcasting on 12080kHz and as per my aircheck today the signal of Voice Of Mongolia was very difficult to copy.

 A Special Note On AIR Gangtok on 4835kHz:

During my recent monitorings for several days in the morning approx. from 0130-0330utc AIR-Gangtok on 4835kHz is received with good signal & audio.The noise(severve hum) which was often heard with the signal of AIR-Gangtok is not observed by me.Perhaps the transmitter problem has been rectified fully.Let me monitor for sometime.

Radio Veritas Asia(RVA) Bengali noted with good signal on 11880kHz from 1400utc on my GDYB 80 Rx & the antenna mentioned.Here is the recordings of initial moments of their Program Aaj Keyer Ganamadhyam presented by Alok Dasgupta last time on shortwave as RVA will end its all transmissions on shortwave from June 30,2018 and will move to online platforms & the audio at 1402utc...Alok Dasgupta On Microphone...
