Signal fair to good  but slight to moderate sideband splatter from either side of 5kHz range and sometimes its difficult to copy its signal.

A Few Radio Monitoring Observations Of The Day

Here is a few radio monitoring observations for the day (November 20,2018) for radio monitors around the world.

1.All India Radio(AIR) Gangtok Special Monitoring Observation:

All India Radio(AIR) Gangtok has been noted with severe hum type noise from time to time on 4835kHz specialy on the morning & also sometimes in the evening.This November as per my monitoring & recording , I've observed it more frequently.Somtimes, the hum type noise disappears after a while and the transmission can be heard without any problem..Today i.e.on November 20th...same thing has happened...

Around 0256 to 0304utc during an aircheck on 4835kHz onwards I heard same noise during AIR Gangtok transmission on  4835kHz relaying Morning News from AIR Delhi & then AIR NE News Bulletin in English relaying from AIR NES Shillong from 0300utc.

Later while another aircheck around 0316utc I heard Hindi flim music on air via AIR-Gangtok on 4835kHz without any hum noise.

Special Note On RRI English:

As per atleast two B18 date bases the 0630-0700utc transmission of RRI English on 15450kHz  directed to India & Australia has been shown on digital mode perhaps on DRM (Tiganesti,90kW)..but as per skd uploaded on RRI English website it is not mentioned as digital mode ..more precisely on  DRM.As per the skd posted only DRM transmission directed to India is during 0400-0456utc on 9820kHz.

A Sunday Evening With Radio

Hi!! Its after a break of of a several weeks that I'm going to post radio related observations.It has been very hot and humid condition here in my place ,Abhayapuri in Western Assam and rainfall is below per normal level this season.Hope weather will improve as the month of September progresses. 

Now back to the radio monitoring..I heard  several radio stations from the evening of September 2nd ...on sunday.Here is a brief summary my loggings.

Radio Japan NHK Wold Bengali 1305utc 11685kHz News about a typhoon approaching parts of Japan by a male voice

The reception was good initially though slight QRM plus noise & fading  but became very noisy plus the signal strength also became weak around 1313utc onwards & I discontinued listening to it at 1316utc.

It is after a long break that I'm now listening to Voice Of Vietnam English on its long standing time slot of 1600utc on 7220kHz.

Adventist World Radio(AWR) Wavescan Reception:

AWR Wavescan 1530-1559utc 15670kHz..via Nauen Germany(MBR) good signal but signal strength reduced gradually towards the end of transmission but could be copied.

Good Signal,slight fading,slight QRM as side band splatter from a radio station broadcasting from 9570kHz

Voice Of Turkey(VOT) English 1629utc 15520kHz Usual Signature Tune Music with Station Ids announcements Time Signal , opening announcements etc etc ,signal strength was fair,noisy with slightly distorted audio & perhaps signal mixed with co-channel station.I observed there might be another station on the frequency...due to which VOT-English audio got distorted slightly sometimes.The same happens with the audio of KNLS English via MWV on 9600kHz during 0200-0256utc facing strong co-channel QRM from Chinese Radio Station.

Voice Of Vietnam English After A Long Break

After a break of several months rather several years ,on July 27th(2018) I heard Voice Of Vietnam English at 1600utc onwards for a few moments on 7220kHz (the long standing frequency Of the Station) with good signal.

Wavescan, The Global DX Program From Adventist World Radio(AWR) As Per Their Announcement In Last Edition Of The Program On June 17,2018 , Today i.e.June 23rd .. Radio Monitoring On Sunday Night

On Sunday i.e.June 17 of 2018, I monitored  a few radio stations in the night.

RX:GDYB 400 ANT:Cu WIRE 78' L 30' H COAX LEADIN  
Geographical Location of Reception Place(Abhayapuri):
Longitude:26º18´20´´North
Latitude:90º37´50´´East

Here is a brief summary.
Adventist World Radio(AWR) English Wavescan,the DX Program 1530-1558utc  15670kHz Good Signal slight noise,overall reception was good
AWR Wavescan 1600-1629utc 9580kHz via Trincomale Sri Lanka(SLBC) Intially the signal strength was not so strong with slight to moderate fading, after 1607utc or so the signal strength improved & became steady.However, very slight QRM as a form of side band splatter from China Radio International- English on 9570kHz was there.

AWR Wavescan on 11950kHz via  during 1601-1630utc, the reception was poor ,the signal was very weak and noisy.

Voice Of Turkey English 1633utc 15520kHz Good Signal News In English by male presenter.Slight Heterodyne was heard in the background.

Just For Reminder:
Radio Veritas Asia(RVA) is ending its transmission on shortwave on June 30th this year ,the Wavescan, AWR's DX Program will air in coming sunday i.e.June 24th  and the following sunday i.e.July Ist.. a feature on RVA.

A Few Latest Entries From My Radio Log Cum Note Book

Here is a few recent  monitoring observations for B17 seasons..

Let me first share a few monitoring observations.

Poor Reception Of AWR Wavescan On Sundays:
AWR Wavescan(the DX Program of AWR..on air on sundays for India etc ) was not audible on 15715kHz(via KSDA) & 17730kHz(Via MDC?) during 1600-1630utc on December 10th.And the 1530utc transmission on 11985kHz via SLBC at present off the air.
There has been poor reception of AWR Wavescan on 17730kHz as observed by me on several sundays here in my QTH.And on 15715kHz is not audible.

Voice Of Indonesia. Frequency Shift From 9525kHz:
After several days of satisfactory reception on Voice Of Indonesia between 1000utc onwards on 9525kHz in several langauges including English, the reception quality again de.....and also the same old problem of frequency shifting of VOI on the range >9525-9526kHz has again taken place.Listening to the audio its clear to me that it is not on 9525kHz.

KLNS English Via Madagascar World Voice(MWV):
There has been good reception of KNLS English on 9600kHz during 0200-0256utc now-a-days.And also it has been observed that KNLS English 2nd transmission on 15560kHz during 0300-0356utc is also received here with good signal.But it is facing sideband splatter from a radio station(Chinese?) broadcasting on 15570kHz.

Radio Taiwan International-English on 6185kHz:
There has been good reception of RTI-English on 6185kHz from 1600utc now-a-days as per my monitoring observations on the weekend upto 1622utc or so.There has been weak QRM (sideband splatter) from a radio station broadcasting on 6190kHz.

AIR Regional Shortwave Station Reception Update:
Still on traces of AIR Aizawl on 5050kHz,AIR Kurseong on 4895kHz....As reported in Indian DX Groups..AIR Portblair on 4760kHz is back on air...is also audible here in listening post with fair signal sometime on the evening & night. AIR-Chennai on 4920kHz now can be audible in the evening/night when co-channel Chinese Regional Station becomes weak.

A Few Of My Latest Observations On AIR Regional Stations On Shortwave

Here is a few of my Monitoring Observations on All India Radio(AIR) Regional Stations...on shortwave.

Receiver:Grundig YB 400 (Digital Read OUT)

Antenna:Long Copper  Wire(30 ft plus length)..height 20ft Plus  as External  Antenna

(for all cases)

First From our North Eastern Region...

AIR-Aizawl  is still off the air as I haven't found any signal on 5050kHz ..AIR-Gangtok on 4835kHz is now the strongest shortwave station heard in my QTH from our region.AIR-Shillong on 4970kHz is also audible with improved signal quality.

I observed AIR-Gangtok & AIR-Shilllong going off the air for a day & two or a few hours sometimes.

From Eastern Zone..& North Zone etc..

AIR-Kurseong is still off the air on 4895kHz & ...

AIR-Jeypore on 5040kHz is audible with strong signal in the morning.But sometimes its audio gets distorted. 

AIR-Bhopal is also audible on both 4810kHz & 7430kHz with variable reception.AIR-Joypur on 4910kHz is audible with poor reception.

Another interesting development..From South Zone....

AIR-Chennai is now audible with fair signal sometimes good without any co-channel QRM from Chinese Regional Station on 4920kHz for several weeks.

But AIR-Hyderabad on 4800kHs is still facing co-channel QRM from Chinese Regional Station and is still not copiable.But on 7420kHz in the morning AIR-Hyderbad is audible to some extent.

 The reception of AIR-Porblair on 4760kHz & AIR-Thiruvananthapuram on 5010kHz is not very good as the case usually happens in summer. 

But from a few days AIR-Thiruvananthapuram on 5010kHz is noted here in the morning with fair to poor reception quality.with noise & moderate fading  on 5010kHz.

I observed strong peiodic morse code signal on this frequency from time to time in the morning.

Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) In Hindi on 11905kHz:
I also heard SLB Hindi on11905kHz from 0115utc onwards on March 24th.The signal strength was not so strong, but fair ,noise & hum was there.

Bangladesh Betar on 15105kHz:
Bangladesh Betar External Service In English was heard with poor overall reception on 15105kHz On March 23rd from 1229utc onwards for a few moments.The signal was poor but readable with difficullty ..noisy & also facing QRM as side band splatter from a radio station broadcasting on 15110kHz.(China Radio International In Chinese..)

Voice of America( VOA) English was heard on 15580kHz with good signal with QSB from 1500utc onwards on March 22nd ..
