AIR Nepali was heard with strong signal on 15210kHz via SPT Bengaluru (500kW) around 0205utc onwards for sometime.Nepali songs were on air.

Radio Romania International(RRI) English:

No signal of RRI English was observed on 7325kHz  from 0100utc and only noise was heard during entire transmission period as per my several random check on that frequency during 0100-0156utc.Though this transmission is directed towards North America East Coast and still over the years this transmission in winter has been audible with good reception overall.Let me check for a few weeks and will post my observation.

Later I heard around 0633utc onwards for a few minutes the RRI English half hour(0630-0656utc) transmission on 17780kHz directed towards Australia as per their website with more less satisfactory reception.

Monitor's Note:

And now like previous winter season, there has been no analog shortwave transmission to India during 0400-0456utc.The two frequencies i.e.11705 & 17790kHz(as per schedule posted) has been for DRM transmission to India during this winter season too.

It is strange that during summer during 0300-0356utc, RRI English is on atleast one frequency usually 25mb (11825kHz in A22 Season) for India.

AWR Assamese:

British Broadcasting Corporation(BBC) 

BBC Bengali:

BBC Bengali was noted on three frequencies from 1333-1400utc as per my random aircheck 11750,9510 and 9900kHz.

The reception on 9900kHz was poorer than 11750kHz & 9510kHz.I found strong signal on 11750kHz and 9510kHz.

Monitor's Note:

As per report,BBC will cutback its radio operations again and this time BBC Bengali along with others will be going off the air on radio.But when it is not yet clear but may be by end of this year or early next year.

BBC World Service (WS) English:

BBCWS English was noted in the morning on 5980kHz with good reception from 0100utc onwards.

Later in the night Sunday Sportsworld program was heard from 1620utc onwards with good reception on 12065kHz(via Singapore Relay) for sometime.The live commentary of EPL league match between Manchester United and West Ham from Old Trafford,Manchester ,  was on air.There was light rain there.

Monitor's Note:

This frequency(1500-1900utc) of BBCWS relayed from Singapore is directed to Middle East and Gulf but well heard here too.BCDXER cum ham VU2OWB ,OM Abhijit Mandal from Khaspur,West Bengal also received good signal of BBCWS on 15400kHz (via Ascension Island not via Woofferton as per BBCWS skd posted) later around 1712utc.He was listening then Sunday SportsWorld as the audio file suggested.And the score of the EPL match 1-0 in favour of Manchester United.And later got confirmation that the final score remained 1-0.Thanks VU2OWB for sharing the log and the audio file.

Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) External Service Hindi:

Today it was not heard here during 0030-0059utc transmission however it was heard on the same frequency during its 2nd part of the transmission during 0200-0229utc.But the signal was not strong and slight co-channel interference and also from nearby frequency there.But yesterday on January 4th, SLBC's Hindi transmission was heard on 11905kHz during its first half of transmission with good signal strength.Today morning might be in skip.There was dense fog in the morning and poor visibility.

No signal Of RRI English To India during 0400-0456utc on 1170kHz In B21 Mystery Solved At Last:

it is because now all two frequencies for this transmission slot has been carrying DRM mode of transmission i.e.both 11790kHz  & 

13720kHz.Thanks for the alert message from a radio monitor  friend of Nepal, when he pointed out to the  fact.Later when I checked  the latest  frequency schedule of RRI English posted  I found the fact myself.

And earlier 25mb frequency was used to broadcast the analog transmission and the other frequency used to broadcast in DRM.

Effective 3rd January, AIR External Service has made a few changes on their schedule as per post in DX India facebook group by OM VU2JOS. The Nepali language transmission now can be heard as per following schedule on shortwave

The reception overall has been satisfactory during 0145-0315utc,but the signal strength is not very satisfactory here in my place during 0930- 1030utc

Radio Philipinas WorldWide English:

Radio Philipinas WorldWide  is currently broadcasting in English on three frequencies 17820kHz,15640kHz and 9475kHz as per their normal schedule of 0200-0330utc.

The reception of on 15640kHz and 17820kHz has been good.But the reception on 9475kHz is not satisfactory,noisy the signal strength is fair usually.

 My DX Mentor cum once radio friend Mr.Tapan Kumar Pathak of my home town ,received a printed QSL Card from Radio Philipinas English Service  in 1998 and I thought him lucky to get a QSL Card response from Radio Philipinas.

The reception is usually poor with heavy interference as a form of side band splatter from 12080kHz during the entire period of broadccast.And it is on rare occasion you can hear this transmission with less interference and  atleast a few sentences and a few parts of the broadcast contents can be audible.Today I could copy to some extents of the broadcast.

As per posted  frequency schedule  in  DX_ India Group in facebook, I heard AIR coverage of Independence Day(of India) On August 15th on three frequencies(0131-0240utc) on shortwave in English on 13710kHz(Bengaluru,500kW) and in Hindi on 11560kHz and 9950kHz(each 100k-New Delhi).Usually this broadcast  airs live coverage of Prime Minister of India hoisting of National Flag from Red Fort ,Delhi and Prime Minister Of India's address to the nation from 0130 to 0240utc.

But I could not listen to any active  regional shortwave stations of All India Radio (AIR)'s coverage of Independence  in my place this time viz.AIR Leh on 4760kHz ,AIR Aizawl on 5050kHz AIR Gangtok on 4835kHz AIR Srinagar on 4950kHz.

And I heard AIR Jeypore with very weak signal on 5040kHz  and it was difficult to copy the audio contents.

AIR Gangtok (on 4835kHz)was off the air for a long time along with AIR Kurseong(4895kHz) AIR Aizawl(5050kHz)on shortwave.

Radio Voice Of Mongolia English The Same Old Problem...also in A21 Season:

The reception of Voice Of Mongolia(VOM) English during 0900-0930utc  on 12085kHz is the like preveious several seasons, there has been moderate to strong interference from a broadcasting station on 12080kHz as a form of sideband splatter.It is not possible to copy the signal of VOM English during that time.I think the station should move to other frequency above 12085kHz may be to 12100kHz or like that  for clarity of reception.

Radio Japan NHK World Bengali:

Radio Japan Bengali on 15365kHz via Dhabyya,UAE during 1300-1330utc facing slight interference from a broadcasting station on 15360kHz as a form of sideband splatter as observed by me on July 30th.

Bangladesh Betar External Service on 4750kHz:

Like previous season, this A21 season also Bangladesh Betar is still using  4750kHz for transmitting their External Service programs to their overseas listeners.Now the audio quality of their transmission has improved and no problem in copying the program contents as such and no hum type noise observed though intensity of the audio sometimes becomes low when speech is on air.But overall reception has been good. I usually monitor their English transmission from 1230-1330utc and Nepali transmission from 1315 to 1345utc.

Radio Philipinas World Wide English:

The station ,is now broadcasting on three frequencies during its lone English transmission  0200-0330utc, on 18720kHz,15640kHz & 12010kHz.The reception is overall excellent on 17820kHz & 15640kHz but on 12010kHz sometimes the signal strength is not good and also very noisy,but otherwise good reception quality.

Radio Taiwan International(RTI) English on 15320kHz during 0300-0400utc:

RTI English on this frequency slot  for several seasons faced slight to severe interference from Radio Japan NHK World on 15325kHz as a form of sideband splatter.

In A21 season Radio Japan NHK World has moved its Japanese transmission from  15325kHz.And it is clear from any interference and heard several days with good signal.But for past several weeks sometimes  the transmission of RTI English is   facing severe noise problem (jamming?) like the noise you usually observe with BBCWS frequencies.Its not possible to copy signal of RTI English.

On July 28th as for example, the signal was totally not blocked by the noise during the entire one hour period of broadcast.

9.All India Radio(AIR) Gangtok 

1207utc 4835kHz (10kW,Gangtok)

Strong hum type noise again..AIR Gangtok was not heard on 4835kHz in the morning as per my monitoring & also on its day time frequency of 6085kHz( inlcuding today).for two days or so..Today during the aircheck at 1207utc heard again with strong noise however no trace of audio was heard.

A Sunday Evening With Radio

Hi!! Its after a break of of a several weeks that I'm going to post radio related observations.It has been very hot and humid condition here in my place ,Abhayapuri in Western Assam and rainfall is below per normal level this season.Hope weather will improve as the month of September progresses. 

Now back to the radio monitoring..I heard  several radio stations from the evening of September 2nd ...on sunday.Here is a brief summary my loggings.

Here is my working conditions...

Radio Japan NHK Wold Bengali 1305utc 11685kHz News about a typhoon approaching parts of Japan by a male voice

The reception was good initially though slight QRM plus noise & fading  but became very noisy plus the signal strength also became weak around 1313utc onwards & I discontinued listening to it at 1316utc.

Voice Of Vietnam English 1559utc 7220kHz Good Signal

It is after a long break that I'm now listening to Voice Of Vietnam English on its long standing time slot of 1600utc on 7220kHz.

Adventist World Radio(AWR) Wavescan Reception:

AWR Wavescan 1530-1559utc 15670kHz..via Nauen Germany(MBR) good signal but signal strength reduced gradually towards the end of transmission but could be copied.

AWR Wavescan 1601utc  11950kHz via SPC-NURTS Sofia Kostinbrod, Bulgaria Signal Strength fair,noisy ,slight fading,slight QRM sideband splatter

AWR Wavescan 1603-1659utc 9580kHz via Trincomalee Sri Lanka( SLBC)

Good Signal,slight fading,slight QRM as side band splatter from a radio station broadcasting from 9570kHz

Voice Of Turkey(VOT) English 1629utc 15520kHz Usual Signature Tune Music with Station Ids announcements Time Signal , opening announcements etc etc ,signal strength was fair,noisy with slightly distorted audio & perhaps signal mixed with co-channel station.I observed there might be another station on the frequency...due to which VOT-English audio got distorted slightly sometimes.The same happens with the audio of KNLS English via MWV on 9600kHz during 0200-0256utc facing strong co-channel QRM from Chinese Radio Station.
