Heard both stations for a few minutes later signals not heard perhaps went below noise level.

VU3HZW was operating from Guwahati & VU3EEE,OB Bedanta Das operating from Barpeta , a new station, operating with uBITX v6 barefoot with inverted V dipole.it is the 2nd second active amateur station from Barpeta now after VU3OIP from the same town.It is to be noted Barpeta is approx. 33 km aways from my location.Congratulation to VU3EEE!!! Congratulation Barpeta!!!

First Call Of Cuckoo..Kooo Kooo .The Advent Of Spring.. At Abhayapuri

I heard today morning  the first call of cuckoo around 0711 IST (0147 UTC) onwards for two or three minutes with slight break of several seconds on a cool morning with almost clear sky with thin white cloud cover ,pale sunshine at our Abhayapuri(NL56hi) residence.The Cuckoo call may have  come from the bamboo plantation of our our back store house and I tried to spot it but not successful.But later I found him silently sitting on a mango tree branch just opposite to the bamboo plantation..

Another information to share..now we have a new ward no ....it is no longer Ward No 3.....we have doubled it...now we are in Ward No.6...i.e.QSY to 6..Hi Hi But no QSY of QTH...Hi Hi..no change of location..

After Abhayapuri Town Committee has been reorganised as Municipal Board, now we have 11 wards...!!!

From Scotland Of East With A3E signal ....

Today(February 18th) while scanning the medium wave band around 0532utc (1102 ist) I found surprisingly good signal of All India Radio(AIR) Shillong on 864kHz and Western Music was on air.It was back to back Western Music  with announcement by lady about songs on air etc once or twice .The program ended around 0700utc with Eagles's number" Love Will Keep Us Alive" and it was followed by another program in Hindi called Umang perhaps relayed from AIR Delhi.

It was pleasant experience to listen to AIR Shillong on 864kHz(100kW) during late morning no noise at all on this particular frequency during 0532 to 0601utc onwards.

The signal strength was good no fading as such,noise level was minimum. Shillong is nearly 148.37km away aerially from my place and it is called also called the Scotland of the East. I have used my Grundig Yacht Boy 400 receiver with 75 Feet Length  33 ft Feet Height

FM BEAT THIS MORNING AT ABHAYAPURI

It is after a long time I have listened this morning(February 18th) several FM broadcasting stations together during  0330-0402utc on my Grundig Yacht Boy 400 receiver with my Telescopic antenna fully extended.Most of radio stations heard were All India Radio(AIR) stations, three private commercial stations from Guwahati and one from Bhutan.

I think Myanmar Radio is now is broadcasing only one English transmission i.e.from 1530utc only on 5985kHz.Its morning English transmission from on 9730kHz from 0230-0330utc has been discontinued for the time being for several months now and  the programs on local language on air in its place.Also I have not heard any other tranmission in English Myanmar Radio so far as per my monitoring.Let me monitor from time to time.

on World Radio Day
For me everyday is like a World Radio Day, no need for any day to observe for  genuine listeners or monitors of broadcasting stations or amateur stations etc or genuine  radio lovers, they will listen to and monitor still the last station on air..Hi Hi.It is to be seen how trust on traditional radio can be maintained with people when  hours  of analog radio broadcasting  around the world on medium wave and shortwave  etc are going down drastically and also many so called giant  broadcasting stations from different countries has stopped broadcasting with usual ways i.e. on shortwave and medium wave long back.And also with advent of television internet  mobile phone with high speed internet connectivity with instant connectivity and a source of getting instant information ,..considerably reducing dependency on radio of the people , as I have observed.Moreover,I have seen around my place ,in our family members,relatives & friends etc who were once attached to radio,no longer in touch with radio for several decades..We have to move with time and latest development technology,though some changes may be difficult to accept by heart but we have to accept it.

Monitor's Critical View On World Radio Day:✂✂

I think this day is usually for broadcasting stations worldwide stressing importance on radio  in our society under initiative of UNESCO-UNO(United Nation Organisation) and is being celebrated on February 13th for nearly a decade on different themes.The date February 13th has been selected because on this day in 1946 UN Radio started broadcasting.That is an another chapter I will discuss it in future  in DXING section.But hours  of analog radio broadcasting  around the world on medium wave and shortwave  etc(so called traditional analog radio) are going down drastically and also many so called leading  broadcasting stations from different countries has stopped broadcasting with usual ways i.e. on shortwave and medium wave long back.And also with advent of television( now also via cable on digital mode & via dish antenna set up), internet  mobile phone with high speed internet connectivity with instant connectivity and a source of getting instant information ,..considerably reducing dependency on radio , as I have observed,it is to be seen how trust on traditional radio can be maintained.

But it is interesting to note now amateurs and amateur radio organisations are taking interest on this day , this is despite there is a World Amateur Radio Day exclusively for amateur radio operators on April  18th of every year to mark the day when the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) was formed in 1925 in Paris.

News Of Canada Via Bangladesh Betar Barishal on 1287kHz , RCI etc

The story goes like this..
A relative of mine recently returned to his place after several years back from Vancouver,British Columbia ,Canada for a few weeks to attend some social ceremonies and also to spend time with  his parents and other family members.I met him recently for a few hours on the back drop of a family function and we exchanged our whatsapp no.And on February 10th, while monitoring the medium wave band in the morning I heard Bangladesh Betar Barishal on 1287kHz with good signal and I think it was relaying news from studio Bangladesh Betar Dhaka.And while I was recording the audio clip from 0116utc onwards for my collection & I heard an interesting news item related to Canada related to protest demonstration by motorists (truck drivers).What a coincidence!!!And I immediately sent the audio clip to my relative via whatsapp with short witty note to him and later he sent me a note of acknowledgement.

My relative know my keen interest in Radio listening and amateur radio and before leaving for Canada when I met him I mentioned him about a radio station of Canada ..i.e. Radio Canada International(RCI) which I used to listen regularly its English Programs and in fact RCI occupies and a special place for me in active period of radio listening.It is from RCI English I got my first QSL Card via late Bill Westenhaver of Audience Relations of RCI English.I also informed him about ice hockey  and regular weather updates and temperature reaching minus in RCI English  News ...as you know how cool it...And this time he described the coolness of Canada ,,..his real time experience briefly.

Radio Nepal
On Medium Wave

Radio Nepal signs on early morning from 2315utc onwards on its medium wave frequencies broadcasting from transmitters in major cities of Nepal.I think same program feed airs on this stations.However I am not 100% sure but as per when I heard it appears to me same program feed on all three stations both in the morning & night.

Here in Abhayapuri, as per my monitoring only on three frequencies  viz. 684kHz(via  Pokhara ),792kHz (via Kathmandu) &on 1143kHz (via  Bardibas ) are audible. The reception is usually  strong on two frequencies on 684kHz(via  Pokhara ) & 792kHz (via Kathmandu) with traditional medium wave fading and noise.

 Radio Nepal begins its transmission  good prolonged  signature tune  with ringing of bell & then national song  ( I think) & then station Idd announcement.

Today morning i.e. On February 12th I heard their opening signature tune etc announcements on 684kHz via Pokhara from 2313utc onwards with good signal.

Besides this as per announcement Radio Nepal is on air on medium wave  via two of its network stations..on 576kHz via  Surkhet and on 810kHz via Dipayal.But I have not heard them for a long time.

Bangladesh Betar Dhaka
On 819kHz 

As per the information posted in facebook by Senior Dxer  Mr.Pradip Kundu(VU3IOP)from Agartala  in his facebook page,   Bangladesh Betar Domestic service (mainly in Bengali with English News etc)on 693kHz (1000kW)will be off  the air from February 1st to April 30th of this year due to renovation works in the Super Power transmission Centre  and programs will be available on 819kHz(100kW) during this three months.

And I monitored  Bangladesh Betar Dhaka on 819kHz today morning(February 12th)  , I found the signal good in strength but facing slight to moderate  fading  plus co-channel interference from AIR Delhi A Indraprastha Channel.

General Monitoring Observations of B21 Season Of International Broadcasting Season Part III

Here is the third of the series of my  general observations of broadcasting stations (special mention of Bhutan Broadcasting Service ) which are heard now-a-days here in my place.

The monitored Vatican Radio schedule on shortwave now in Hindi Tamil Malayalam Languages(20 minutes each)

from 1430 to 1530utc on 9595kHz 7320kHz both via Tinang,Philippines(250kW) Daily

The reception overall satisfactory during my time to time monitoring  though slight to moderate interference as a form of sideband splatter can be observed on both frequencies.

KBS(Korean Broadcasting Service) World Radio English

The current schedule of KBS World Radio in English to India as per my monitoring as follows

1400-1700utc on 9630kHz  daily Kimjae,South Korea(250kW) Daily

The reception has been good now-a-days as my monitoring for several days for first one and half hour of the broadcast as per my monitoring.During initial half hour or so, I sometime have observed slight to moderate interference from a co-channel station.

The program formats has been changed now-a-days and more stress on life styles etc and present music trends etc have been observed.Though on week days I have observed news of 10 miniutes.And on the weekend,it is only back to back Korean Pop music only I guess.I have not listented to KBS World English as such for a long time for a few years now.

KBS World English once was a good verifier of reception cards and they used to issue printed QSL Cards of big size  for each quarter of the year.I have lots of printed QSL Cards from KBS World Radio Seoul ,South Korea depicting every aspects of South Korea including politics -inter korean summit meeting..

It is the last or 4th Quarter QSL Card of KBS World in 2007 depicting two leaders of Both Korea...South Korea's then President Roo Moo-Hyun & North Korean leader Kim Jong-il during their summit talks October 2-4th 2007 in Pyongyang,North Korea

Bhutan Broadcasting Service(BBS) on 6035kHz

The BBS is still off the air on its long standing  shortwave frequency on 49mb i.e. on 6035kHz as per my monitoring.But BBS FM Service on 96.00 via Thimphu I guess, which is heard here in my location , in the morning transmission of BBS Nepali Language transmission from 0400utc, the opening announcement still mentions its shortwave transmission frequency along with its current FM frequencies.

Adventist World Radio(AWR) Assamese:

As per schedule of AWR in B21 season ,AWR Assamese is on air 

15550kHz from 1330-1400utc via Agat-Guam(100kW) on sundays & wednesdays

And the reception for sunday broadcast which I have monitored has been excellent.

Radio Voice Of Mongolia English

My monitored schedule of Radio Voice Of Mongolia English as present

0900-0930utc  12085kHz Daily

And the overall reception quality remains the same...i.e. the same old story repeated season after season here at my place.There has been strong to moderate interference as a form of side band splatter from a station broadcasting on 12080kHz and it is on rare occasion you can listen to some extent of Voice Of Mongolia English audio on 12085kHz.As for example I could listen to the transmission to some extent on January 28th...around 0918utc.
